On behalf of Sanskriti Board of Directors and members, we congratulate our graduates.
Below is the synopsis on each graduate.
Ankhi Guha Thakurta
Ankhi graduated from the Montgomery Blair High School and will be attending the Swarthmore College and Majoring in English and Political Science. Ankhi has been recognized as a leader as she took the initiate in reorganizing the priorities of the Sanskriti Youth Club to focus more in serving the needs of the under-privileged children of Bengal. She organized several fund raising events and made presentation at several meetings. Due to her efforts, several children are receiving help in continuing their education in Bengal. In her spare time, she enjoys painting.
Annesha Basu
Annesha graduated from the Potomac Falls High School, Potomac Falls, Virginia and will be attending the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA and pursing Biology/Pre-Medical Major with Minors in Economics and Spanish. Her hobbies and interests are: Odissi, Lyrical, Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop. In addition, Annesha is a member of the Volleyball of National Honors Society. Annesha received the Governor’s Academic Excellence Award and Life Team Leader for Girls State First Alternate Relay.
Arnab Sarker
Arnab graduated from the Clarksburg High School and will be attending the Georgetown University majoring in Biology with pre-med concentration. His hobbies and interests and skate, tennis and participate in amateur Greek wrestling.
Mayukh Chakrabarti
Mayukh graduated from the Colonel Zadok Magruder High School and will be attending the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Maryland and Majoring in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. His hobbies and interests are reading, playing tennis, performing karate (3rd degree black belt) and computer programming.
Medha Singh
Medha graduated from the Richard Montgomery High School and will be attending the Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, in Architecture. Besides education, Medha has interest in Bharatanatyam Indian Classical Dance, piano, drama set design and construction.
Prapti Muhuri
Prapti graduated from the Springbrook High School, Silver Spring, Maryland and will be attending the George Washington University with a Major in Biology and Minor in Statistics. She served as the President of Student Council, a member of Varsity Tennis Team and a member of Kuchipudi Dance Academy in Germantown, Maryland. She worked as a summer intern at the National Institute of Health for three years.
Rohit Dasgupta
Rohit graduated from the Thomas Jefferson High School and will be attending the Johns Hopkins University with a major in Biomedical Engineering. He served as the Captain of a Debate and Speech Team in school and placed first at the Northern Virginia American Revolution Oratorical Contest. He was also first at the Fairfax County Science Fair Competition for his research paper on zeolites. He served as the concertmaster of the Fairfax Youth Symphony orchestra. Son of Shyamal and Jayati Dasgupta, he exhibits deep affection for Bengali/Indian culture and has performed Bengali songs on violin at numerous venues across the greater Washington, DC area including Sanskriti and NVBA pujas.
Sreya Sinha
Sreya graduated from the Thomas Wootton High School and will be attending the University of Maryland, College park, Maryland in Biological Sc as major. Her hobbies and interests are Karate, Orissi Dance and Theater. She is on her way to fulfill her dream in accomplishing a “Black Belt” in Karate soon.
Tania Chatterjee
Tania graduated from the Col.Zodak Magruder High School and will be attending the University of Maryland, Baltimore County as Biology major. She has achieved highly in academics and has received several academic awards. Some of the awards include the Wellesley College Book Award, President Academic Achievement Award, Pursuing Excellence in the Academic Carrier (PEAC) Scholar Award, National Science Merit Award and Montgomery County Award for Meritorious Service to the Community. In addition to education, Tania has been learning Bharatanatyam for 13 years and was a semi-finalist for the Washington Post Dance and Music Scholarship Award. In addition to dancing, she enjoys painting, crafts, reading, writing and photography. Her goal is to pursue a career in Biomedical Research and Dance.
